83% closed profit on only 10 days. What’s not to be liked about it, right? But it’s profit factor is 1.15. Is it bad? In simple term, profit factor is total wins divided by total losses. This is how profit factor of 1.15 looks like

That small green part at the right end is your 83% closed profit. Is it great? Depends whether you consider the big losses or not. Personally I would say that is an inefficient strategy. That red losses’ sum is 5,568.4467 USDT, 6.67x of your profit. You are risking that much money only to have 15% profit.

The expectancy ratio also isn’t good. 0.07 means 1 loss wipes out profit from 14 winning trades. This strategy had too much bad trades. In long term, this strategy has a very big chance of going bust.

As a rule of thumb, most people would target at least profit factor of 2. This is how profit factor of 2 looks like

The risk is quite balanced with the reward. Of course, bigger profit factor is always preferred.

So to answer the initial question, personally I won’t go live with this strategy. I would need to reduce the losses. How? There are many possible ways, but these are the three ways I can think of

  • Have tighter entries, so there are less losing trades
  • Exit losing trade earlier while the losses are still (relatively) smaller
  • Increase the profits (harder and personally not recommended)
